Samaritan Sand believes it can make quite an impact on the construction industry by not only saving them 10% on the cost of concrete but also with this New Mix Design, creating a cancer free, more environmentally friendly, stronger style of concrete.

Over the years there have been many experiments using a wide range of manufactured additives to achieve results in improving the strength of a concrete mix. These additives are used to expel excess water, delay setting time, make the concrete flow better and improve the strength of the concrete.

Unfortunately over time, the additive industry has managed to almost double the cost of producing higher strength concrete, with the basic ingredients remaining the same.
“If the cost is pushed onto the contractor, the contractor has to then price that cost into their bid, which inflates the price,” points out Graeme Hunt, chief executive of Transfield Services.
All of this experimentation is passed on to the construction companies but the construction companies that build Australia’s largest projects are getting fed up with being asked to absorb costs, and want this to change.
So how to fix it – Samaritan Sand has introduced a New Mix Design that gives “Complete Compaction” which is achieved by increasing the surface area for cement bonding, a result of the cement being able to wrap itself around the fine grain sizes of our sand (down to 1 UM in size) of unimagined rough, sharp angular structures without a single polished surface so there are no gaps within the concrete.
According to Samaritan Sand, No Gaps means, this has water-proofed the concrete internally and thus prevented water getting to the reinforcing steel, preventing corrosion, rust and expansion within the concrete, ultimately preventing Concrete Cancer.
That means less cement is needed in the mix, (up to 30% less for some grades). That also means there are fewer requirements for chemical additives to expel excess water as the concrete is now non-porous – a further cost saving.
Samaritan sand additive has excellent properties for making high compression strength concrete and masonry products suitable for infrastructure projects including earthquake and typhoon resistant domestic and commercial structures.
By reducing the cost of concrete by 10%, there must be a positive flow on effect to all, and this reduction of costs is now globally recognised and globally sought after.
